As the name of this blog suggests, I have an affinity for all things sweet – especially chocolate. I love a block of Cadbury milk like any other girl, but once in a while, I crave something a little more … special. I blogged earlier about how much I like Prestat’s drinking chocolate, but when it comes to truffles, Charbonnel et Walker, with their unmistakeably circular boxes cased in thick, luxurious gift bags make me feel really pampered.
Made exclusively in the UK, Charbonnel et Walker was borne of an unique Anglo-French partnership between Mrs. Walker and Mme. Charbonnel, who came from the renowned Maison Boissier chocolate house in Paris. Their original shop opened on Bond Street in London’s posh Mayfair in the 19th-century and remains there to this day. Isn’t that amazing? My favourite are the milk chocolate truffles, which feature a milk chocolate ganache within the finest milk chocolate and are the type I pick up when celebrating a special event or just because.
They also make divine dark chocolate truffles (the kind they’re most famous for), featuring a dark chocolate ganache finished with a piece of edible gold leaf: pure luxury and simply delightful to look at when opening the box.
Next on my list to try are the cappuccino truffles, which combine two of my favourite flavours: chocolate and coffee! What more could a girl ask for? However, the banoffee truffles look extremely tempting as well …
I love the vintage look of the boxes so much that I keep them to store my knick-knacks and other accessories that don’t have a home. My dresser has a small stack that is steadily growing! If you’re a serious chocolate fan like me, you really ought to try these special treats too.
Until the next time, xoxoShow
